Steve and I have lapped up an early Christmas present this year! Our friend Jenny offered to have all the kids for a few nights!! She actually generously and ambitiously offered 5 nights initially, but we weren't sure they/she would survive that long. We spent the first two nights at a little apartment at Noosa, and made the most of the nearby river- walks, ferry rides and canoeing. We also got plenty of quiet meals together (my thoughtful husband even did all the cooking!)- and reading time when my biological alarm clock woke me at the usual early kids' waking time. Though it was lovely to be apart for a break, we did miss the kids, and were reminded of them in little ways throughout the day- like when we spotted a sting ray impression in the cement footpath on our walk (Tim likes sting rays), saw a little girl sitting with her dolly, and seeing two brothers have turns tooting the ferry whistle. Never fear- it didn't stop us enjoying the time away, but I guess it's true- absence makes the heart grow fonder :)
And to top it off we had an extra night alone once we were back home again! Jenny sure spoiled us alright. She always delights in having our kids in her usual lavishing way. We shall see how she fared this morning and hear all their exciting adventures....
