This morning, the visiting pastor shared on 'Helping others by your prayer'. It was taken from Phil 1:3-9. As she was speaking, I noted it was not just a helpful tool in how to pray for "others", but also, and especially, those under your own roof- your children. Here are the (breviated) points:
- Thank God for them
- See yourself in partnership with them. Your part is to pray
- Pray with joy
- Have confidence in God's ability to bring them to maturity.
- Have them in your heart
- Have a genuine concern for them
- Pray: that their love and commitment to God will increase and abound, that they will discern between right and wrong, that they will be kept pure in heart, that their lives will be filled with fruitfulness.
