Here is smiley Caleb - now 4 years old! Steve made him this garage for his stash of matchbox cars (even designed it himself). The birthday cake resembles all of Caleb's favourites; the colour blue, racing cars, soccer, drawing, and dear old monkey -his soft toy. And as he loves pancakes, we celebrated by having a pancake breakfast birthday party.... I think he enjoyed himself- he went very shy and quiet but still had his little trademark smirk/smile to indicate he was very pleased with himself :)While a couple dads flipped (pancakes, that is), the kids joined in a few themed games; pin the pancake on the spatula, pancake throw (foam version- which ended up being the neighbour dog's breakfast), pancake and spatula race (egg & spoon idea) and "waffle, waffle, pancake" ("duck, duck, goose"). To wet the appetite of those who didn't make it to the party- we enjoyed a choice of various topping
s; bananas, strawberries, blueberries, choc chips, bacon, tomato, mushroom, cheese, and of course the obligatory cream and maple syrup. I even made homemade icecream, but alas, forgot to bring it out of the freezer :(
