Baby B @ home!

And here's the events of Bethany Grace's birth....

Well, baby #4 finally arrived- 11 days late on 27th November. AND, somewhat to our surprise- born at home! I woke 12.20am with a contraction, and then waited for the next 2 contractions before I woke Steve at 12:40. We started getting ready to drive into the hospital, despite our plans to phone the ambulance. I guess Steve figured we had time being as the contractions so far were 10 min apart... But before we left home, my waters broke and at the same time I felt the need to push already! Steve immediately phoned the ambulance at that point! Mum busied herself getting sleeping Caleb (who was camping out in the rumpus room at the time) shifted onto another bed out of the way, and setting up his mattress on the floor for the birth! Steve was kept on the phone with emergency services until they arrived right as Bethany appeared at 1:05am! The ambo guy literally gloved up and caught her at the right moment. The speed of this labour wasn't such a big shock as we were half expecting it owing to Sarah's not much longer labour. But we hadn't actually prepared for a home birth (silly us). Anyhow it turned out well, thankyou Lord. The ambulance crew were not far from our place when they got the call.

Mum took a photo of me after the event- sitting in the rumpus room- just to prove it all really happened at home, and the photo below making the trip into the hospital in the back of the ambulance afterwards. As they shut the back of the ambulance up, Steve said "Well, that's it/ bye, I'm going back inside to bed" !! He was having a go of course- being Steve, however the ambulance crew didn't know that, and the lady driver gave Steve a priceless look of disgust!! Then Steve announced "just joking" :) What a good laugh.

Bethany weighed 8 lb 1oz or 3.68kg - our biggest baby, and also very long. So far she has dark hair- similar to what Caleb had when newborn, and not too sure about eye colour yet. We (especially Sarah) like to say "Bethany Grace with a beautiful face". She has been doing well, sleeping and feeding as babies do.

Here's some photos of our gang
